One other way that I have tried to explain it to non-scientific friends of mine is as follows:

Accept that Climate change is absolutely true and due to fossil fuel usage escalation.
Around 1970 the Earth's population was approx 4.0 Billion people. Today the Earth's population is 8.0 Billion and headed to 10.0 Bil in about 10-20 yrs.
Energy usage is a per capita consumption and since the population is increasing so is total energy usage.
So if the only real way to "fix" climate change is to reduce energy usage then the only way to do that is to drastically reduce the population by like 5-6 Billion people.

An extension to this solution is for all Progs to take one for the team and volunteer for the elimination.

The real bottom line is that we are an adaptive species and if the climate changes then we will change with it. We already live in temperatures below zero and in temps in excess of 100 deg... So just chill Baby
