That’s the threat. I was told Landry is allowing the bill as a last chance to fix the public defenders office. It didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, but I heard this directly from someone in the state pd office so I assumed it was credible.

I agree with both of your points. I know people were testifying about this at the capitol today, but I’ve been too busy to really follow it. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Rumor is that he would likely appoint the current state public defender as the “czar.”
