So, I'm in the market for a new phone but need something with an unlockable boot loader that will work Verizon's network. I have the grandfathered in unlimited data plan and will never give it up.

I want a Samsung, but there essentially no way to unlock one on Verizon's network.

Pixel 3 xl is unlockable and roots, but I don't like their screens or their design and their hardware(only 4gb of ram) lags behind others.

So I'm in a bit of a conundrum. One Plus makes a pretty good phone in the 7 pro, and it's unlockable boot loader and verizon compatibility is perfect...but there's one problem...it's fricking Chinese.

I haven't read much on them being as dangerous as Huawei (they use snapdragon chips instead of their own and use a slightly modified android and you can unlock it and root it or even flash a custom rom.

But I'm afraid that nothing from China is trustable and they may have backdoors into data collection, etc.

Is this me being paranoid or are there legit concerns wth OnePlus and data privacy?

I've started becoming cognizant of a shite ton of flip phones out there. At first I was like, wut? But now I understand. On Google today, I looked up a business hotel in a state a thousand miles away from me on that I went to about four years ago to pick up a client.

fricking Google told me the date I visited it, today, when I looked it up. Jesus, that shite tracks everywhere you go.

Just turn off your location services and Google won't track you.

Well, they'll still track you but it won't be so overt.

I only use location settings when. I'm using the gps. There's really no other reason to ever have it on unless you want all your apps to be auto personalized to your area.

Turning off location also saves battery
