quote:
The Pledge of Allegiance is a socialist creed written by a man who rejected capitalism.
Which makes sense.
The whole ritual of having young children stand and recite a "pledge" in unison to a symbol always seem very Nazi or communistic, like the films we were shown of how things were in Nazi Germany, Russia, China and North Korea.

Yes, God as in a superior being that ordains natural rights upon everyone. Not a “Christian” god.
So then what is your problem with the statement "one nation under God?"
Have you ever made a thread that wasn't shitty?

So much ignorance, so little time.
- the Constitution us the organizational document for the national government. Plenty or references to God/The Creator in the Declaration of Independence and state constitutions of the period.
- 1st Amendment prohibited a national religion. State and local governments collected taxes to support churches until the 1830s.
- Jefferson and Madison were against state interference with religion, not necessarily vice versa.
- treaty was with Muslims and that statement was in there for appearances. Even if the official position of the government at the time, subsequent actions have negated its effect ( see, Treaty of Tripoli & the confusion surrounding it explained in four poi – AmericanMinute.com-William J. Federer LINK )

quote:Except it doesn't say that. The actual document written in Arabic doesn't have these words.
-The Treaty of Tripoli explicitly states the U.S. is “not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion”.
quote:Couldn't be further from the truth. Separation of church and state just means we weren't meant to be a theocracy. Our government and society was created on Christianity. It's not even a debate if you know American history.
the founding of America itself was deliberately not religiously grounded. At the same time, the political framework was intentionally secular:
