It appears to me
And it's just an observation
That we build monuments
As a form of obfuscation

Because way way down
Way down deep inside
You and I both know
We ain't getting outta'here alive

But,yet, we build these monuments
To what might have been
If the man upstairs had any sentiments
And was really our kin

Anyway, we build them up to the sky
We build them to our deceased
We build them to try to buy
Front seating at the promised Big Feast!

But, it's all to no avail
And it matters not how often you fail
'Cause when it's all said and done
It only matters who YOU ultimately become!

Look across the "pond" we Americans call the Atlantic
