Obama was weak with OPEC and foreign deals for US oil and natural gas.
This contributed to the crash in December 2014.
The crash forced producers to become more efficient in operations.
At the same time technology made exponential improvements specifically with horizontal drilling/fracing and geological exploration.
Obama indirectly/unwittingly laid the groundwork for the current boom (2017 Q4 to present) although without Trump's opening of new markets abroad, pimp hand with OPEC nations, tax cuts, and easing of regulations across the board we would not be where we are today.
Verdict: Trump
