If he has a dead mans switch why would they kill him? Why not just let him rot in the Spanish prison? Guess they thought he was bluffing?

He might have had it setup where he had to do something ever so many days or it goes off.
He also probably had someone he trusted that could trigger it if they were just going to let him rot.

If the Deadman's Switch is valid, yea.
All I know is that something is afoot because of him stating he has a Deadman's Switch and stating several times that if he's found dead he didn't kill himself.
