Note: June 15th update is at the bottom of the thread

Major TEXIT Campaign Announcement
June 14, 2021 – 7:30pm

Presenter: Daniel Miller, President of Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM)

My typed notes are below. They’re a summary, not a transcript.

**********

Tonight I’m joining you to make a major announcement.

First, take a trip with me down memory lane. In November 2020, Rep. Kyle Biedermann agreed to file legislation that would allow the people of Texas to decide whether Texans should vote on independence. That legislation became HB1359 in January 2021. It would’ve placed a non-binding—in essence, a study bill—referendum on the ballot in November 2021 for the sole purpose of measuring what the people of Texas think about a vote on Texas independence.

All hell broke lose amongst government officials. Gov. Greg Abbott; Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick; House Speaker Dade Phelan; State Affairs Committee Chairman Chris Paddie. These guys (and others) pulled out all the stops to prevent the people of Texas from expressing their political will to get out from underneath the heavy hands of the federal government and the national policies that are crushing Texas. They denied Texans a voice at the ballot box on the issue of TEXIT. They wanted to put the genie back in the bottle. They thought TEXIT supporters would go away.

They underestimated our desire to see Texas return to a free republic.

We, the TNM, made a promise at that time. Either we get a vote in 2021, or we’ll issue a referendum on you in 2022. We’ve been quietly recruiting challengers to make good on that promise. To date, we have over 40 potential candidates for every senator who let HB 1359 die. The TNM will deliver to the people of Texas the representation they deserve.

That's the background for this announcement. Flash forward to June 14, 2021.

**********

We’ve spoken at length with legal professionals and political scholars about our options.

Unlike 24 other US states, Texas does not have a true citizen initiative. In political terminology, a citizen initiative is a process that enables citizens to bypass their state legislature by placing proposed statutes and, in some states, constitutional amendments on the ballot.

Texas does, however, have an indirect means of placing legislation on a ballot. In a nutshell, we submitted our proposal (HB1359) to the TX Lege, which had an opportunity to act on the proposed legislation. They didn’t. The law states that if the legislature: (a) rejects legislation; (b) submits a different proposal; or (c) takes no action (they didn’t), the initiative question (TEXIT) can subsequently go on the primary ballots of both political parties as a non-binding referendum. In other words, the Texas Election Code, Sec. 172.088 allows us to collect a certain number of petition codes which would get our referendum on the primary ballots.

Tonight, we begin that effort.

As of June 14, 2021, the Texas Nationalist Movement is officially launching a campaign to collect enough petition signatures to place the TEXIT question on the 2022 Primary ballot. With enough signatures, next year, Texans will have the opportunity to go to the polls and cast their vote on the following question: "The State of Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation. FOR OR AGAINST"

Between now and December 1, 2021 the TNM is fielding hundreds of volunteer petition circulators to collect the signatures of over 76,854 Texans who want a chance to vote on TEXIT. It’s a question of self-determination.

This is not a typical, “sign here” petition. Unlike every previous petition on the issue of TEXIT, this is a valid and legal petition that will place the question of TEXIT on the ballot in Texas. If you would like to become a Certified Petition Circulator (CPC), you must go through an online training process. Visit the link tnm.me/petition for more information, including where you will be able to sign a petition. You must do so in person with a CPC.

To make this a reality, it will take hundreds--if not thousands--of volunteers to collect signatures over a 180-day time frame.

We’re making history. We’re talking about flipping over the chessboard and executing on all fronts, so that there’s nothing the politicians can do anymore to stop us. We have the people, we have the law, we have the ability, and we have the challengers.

No one has ever done what we’re going to do. The waters are uncharted, but the future is crystal clear. As the Texas Constitution (Article 1 Section 2) states: “All political power is inherent in the people.”

It’s time to show the political establishment how powerful the people are. Texans will not rest until we’re a free, independent, an self-governing nation again.

Let’s go win TEXIT.

My big problem with this is that the last time I put my name on a list like this (donating to Ted Cruz's senate run), I was audited by the IRS. The Biden admin will use the same tactics as the Obama admin (run by the same facists).

I have nothing to hide, but that audit cost me thousands in lost time/revenue.

Thanks. Sounds like it might make the primaries pretty interesting, if the TNM puts up candidates as well as the petition. It's been a long time since I lived in Texas, but if my memory still holds, I think you could get people on both parties' ballots -- maybe a lot of people.

I feel kind of bad for people that think politicians and organizers in Texas are capable of TEXIT. Democrats are way better at politics and imposing their will on others. They can stop you at any point in time but I'm sure they're happy to watch you spin your wheels.

It will never happen. 0% chance. I would bet anyone anything on it.

It's like watching people without limbs try to play a 900 inning baseball game against Vanderbilt. Each inning they are like "We're totally going to do it guys!"

So don’t try?
Doing nothing ensures a victory for the establishment.
Screw that. This is MY life, family, income, and home.

Don’t feel badly for “people” like me.
TEXIT means far too much to me to ever give up.
It’s an honor to fight for it.

That’s their MO. Use the force of law against the law abiding because they know we will comply. Too bad our elected representatives are all on the take otherwise this kind of bs wouldn’t be possible. frick these DC goons; we need to get serious about reigning in our government. Obama needs to rot in a cell or the end of a rope for using the IRS to persecute political opposition.

You're not really fighting for it though. You're grandstanding and espousing virtue. People may talk about it in order to curry political favor with locals but that's it.

If they were serious about it and had actual balls to do it they would actually do it. TEXIT doesn't happen by standing around and asking politely. You can't just legalese your way into it over time. Democrats will undermine every legal effort and stir up so much fear that your head will spin faster than you can say IRS. The longer you wait the more impossible it gets.

47% of Texas voters voted for Joe Biden. Texas will be blue in 5-10 years, for frick's sake.

"oh and btw we are going to have to share this new country with Louisiana who's population is last at almost everything".

Yeah, I'm sure that'll really get people excited.

That’s a nightmare, Texas Yarddog. I don’t blame you a lick for your hesitancy.

I will say this: My name, address, phone number, email, donation amounts, volunteerism, etc. is on every TEXIT contact info that exists—and has been for years. Additionally, my personal info is affiliated with some of the most conservative organizations out there. Finally, I’m one of just a few politically conservative professors at the university where I work. Thus far, I’ve been spared any official harassment.

There are multiple events that caused me to become fed up with grabbing my ankles and taking it; but I finally had enough.
I decided to fight back.
It’s no longer an option for me to do otherwise.

Good luck

I may end up in Texas, may not

But the more we can put the state and federal governments on a collision course, the more we can get people thinking about whether or not diametrically opposed populations should be placed under each other's thumb every 4 years - the better.

Q&A session on the petition announcement made last night
June 15, 2021 - 7:30pm
Zoom meeting (capped at 3,000 attendees)

TNM TEXIT petition info

Introductory comments:

The announcement last night [we announced the Texas Election Code-approved TEXIT petition]—wow. Folks have already taken the Campaign Petition Circulator course and have begun to gather signatures. The mandatory course officially certifies TNM volunteers to collect signatures. Signatures must be collected in a very specific and legal, subscribed manner. Not just a signature on a napkin.

The next primary election will be held March 1, 2022. Our goal is to get the question of TEXIT on the party ballot:
The state of Texas should reassert itself as an independent nation. For or Against.

Questions from attendees:

What happens it [when] we get more than 76,854 signatures, and the referendum “passes” in the primary?.
FYI we want to exceed 85,000 votes to account for the margin of error. As for what happens? Nothing, in terms of a binding action. The benefit is entirely on putting substantial pressure on our legislators, so the question of independence then goes on the general ballot. They’ll KNOW greater than 50% of the Texas electorate wants to vote on TEXIT.

How do I sign the petition?
Show up to a TNM event in your area and sign it there. From now until December there will be many events across the state. The TNM website lists upcoming events. Or you can become a CPC (Campaign Petition Circulator). You can sign your own petition. Even if you only “collect” one signature (e.g., yours) it helps!

If you are a business owner and have a storefront, and you want to set-up a petition signing station at that business, let us know, and we’ll get you in the directory.

How can Texans who are currently living out of state (but plan to move back) help?
You can’t sign the petition unless you’re a Texas resident. But you can promote the campaign. Share with your Texas friends. Plug them into the TNM website. Make donations. Thus effort is unspeakably expensive.

“Scott” is running for office in 2022 and wants to know if he’s allowed to sign the petition and/or become a CPC.
To my knowledge there’s no restriction on any Texas resident becoming a petition circulator or signing a petition.

“Steve” is already collecting signatures and asked: The drivers’ license/voter ID field on the petition is hard to get. My wife is hesitant to sign, for example. Are those fields mandatory?
You have to ask, per statutory requirement. Explain to them why. Their signatures are no good without verifiable information. If they absolutely won’t provide their TDL# and/or voter registration number, we can—as a last result—look them up. But we must have an accurately spelled county of residence, date of birth, and legal name. That said, voter registration number is by far the easiest way to verify authenticity of the signature.

Do signers have to have voted in a previous party primary in order to sign the petition?
No. But if they sign a [Republican] petition, they are legally committing to voting in the [Republican] primary.

Since this type of petition has never been successfully done before, how does it compare to the 2015 TNM petition?
It’s very different. We have a very full organization now (hundreds of thousands more members). We can hit the goal (80,000), we just need to get at it.

Why wasn’t this done out of the gate in conjunction with HB1359/the recent Texas legislative session?
The legal requirement is that 180 days before the petition is filed, the signatures have to be collected. No more than 180 days. We couldn’t divert our effort from HB1359 during the legislative session. We knew when the session was over we’d have much more time and resources to direct to the petition. Thus us going to be far better.

Why haven’t there been more events near Lufkin and Longview?
Local meetups are forming as we speak. Every week there’s a Sunday afternoon digest released/emailed about activities in areas all over the state. But Texas is a huge state. If you want to form a more specific group in your area (within your district or county), you can. Contact us.

Where do I get a copy of the petition?
Complete the CPC course. If you do happen to get your hands on a bootlegged copy of the petition, trash it. We’re only accepting petition forms from verified CPCs. If even ONE signature is found to be fraudulent, the whole petition process is null and void. We’re serious about the issue of elect integrity, folks. I don’t think any more needs to be said on that.

If you’re a notary in Texas you can help us too. The petitions cost $6/page to notarize, which will be a colossal expense to the organization. If you’re a notary you can donate your time. OR you can become a notary through us and f do I ate your time when we reach the point of verifying and notarizing each signature.

Can more than one person collect signatures in the same town?
Absolutely. You, your neighbor, and your neighbor’s neighbor can all collect signatures at the same time.

**Do NOT spend time with people who are against TEXIT and are just looking to verbally battle with you. They want to argue, and it’s wasting time that you could be spending collecting signatures from others.**

What is the petition deadline?
December 20, 2021. But we need to reach our goal before December 1, 2021 so we have time to verify signatures. Strategically it would be far better to hit the goal as soon as we can.

Where will we be able to go to sign the petition?
Find an event in your area. Go to the EVENTS section on the website. The numbers of events will grow regularly throughout the summer and fall. If you can’t attend an event in your area, become a CPC (see the TNM website) and sign and submit it to the TNM on your own. Make sure to get your family’s and friends’ signatures too.

Aren’t most Texans aware of the TNM movement?
No. They’ve been subjected to false TEXIT info from the media and those who are against it. Our movement is fact-based. We’re transparent. And we’re 100% for all Texans. We’ve seen so many lies repeated, it’s comical. Check out any message board or media article about TEXIT. False information.

Where does this sit in the grand scheme of things?
Texas hangs in the balance right now. Our intention is to recruit a challenger for every single legislator who didn’t sign-on to HB1359. When they were ignoring us during the Texas legislative session, the federal government was allowing our southern border to burn. Our elected officials in Texas watched and flipped us the middle finger.

Be aware that maps/districts are about to be redrawn in the September special session (the legislature ran out of time during the recent 2021 regular session and didn’t redraw the naps at that time). Lawsuits will arise when legislators complain about the new district boundaries. Each time this happens (another special session), legislators are not permitted to collect campaign donations while the session is in progress. This is hugely beneficial to the challengers, who WILL be able to be out collecting money during the special sessions.

The planets are aligning, No one has ever run this play before, and there’s a wide window for us. This is our San Jacinto moment. There is no opportunity to be passive or to compromise. This petition effort is part of a much larger strategy to give TEXITeers the chance to go to the polls and get TEXIT done.

This is an incredible opportunity. It’s not possible to understate it. It’s going to be a fun and memorable experience.
