Is There an Official National Vote Tally?

I was wondering about this. Is this something the news outlets put together? Since each state is responsible for its own elections, they report their counts and move on. Would the Federal Election Commission do this or is it a unofficial number?

The FEC does release an official document. For the 2012 election, the document was released July 2013.
