My issue was strictly the lack of maturity, leadership, and discipline from the top executive within the organization.

Bingo -- why so many hate Trump.

Not sure how "no ill will" and "hate" equals Bingo.

We may be on slightly different sides but our backgrounds sound pretty similar. I still work closely with the military and I can tell you that I don't talk politics at the workplace or publicize my views. My conservative co-workers go out of their way to say their piece and I just carry out with my business.
It goes the other way too...I have a sizable group of engineers and developers reporting to me. One of them is an avid Trump supporter. He and I are actually friends (we were once peers on the project years ago) and I don't do anything to shut down his political talk at the workplace. I really don't give a shite either way. We are here to do a job and as long as people do it well and aren't shite heads to each other (and are down with the mission of providing capability to our uniformed services) we are good to geaux.

I only shared the recent experience because a few left leaning PTers showed up in this thread pretending these biases don't exist in the workplace.

I didn't read the thread. I did that thing I hate when other people do it to liberals which is drive by into a thread and pick one of the replies and zero in on them. My bad.

So, I'm sure you libs would be fine with a company firing all employees that voted for Hillary or those they considered progressives?

You are the biggest drama queen on the board...I would not be fine with either. People probably shouldn't talk politics at work in my opinion. But supporting a candidate for American President is not something that someone should ever be punished for. Who in the hell do you people think I am?

Drama queen for asking a question?

Whatever dude.

I don't think anyone would be happy with being fired for your political views, but it happens.

No worries Brother...

As polarized as things have become, most organizations will likely have a political leaning one way or the other. There will be some that lean heavily, some slightly. A liberal in the military... a conservative teacher in public schools... etc. Either way, there is no excuse for malicious behavior from either side. One day this nation will reunite. I just hope the unification isn't the result from some crazy fat kid launching nukes from NK.

How is a company to know how individuals vote or even if they voted or not? I've never worked anywhere where that information is widely known.

No offense but have you been living under a rock? Right after the election some companies came out and said "if you voted for Trump..." & private places said "Trump supporters don't need to patron this store" & hell, the NFL basically gave the middle finger to Trump supporters but that's another issue really.

I have worked for companies which did their best to influence employees to work for or against certain political issues.

Maybe people don't wanna be pressured at work related to political views.

Basically, I just blew it off.

You shouldn't have to.

I'm not dumb enough to confront a CEO and walk off the job over political discourse.

What if the CEO is making your life miserable?

Still no excuse for hating his policies. There actually is a difference there.

I overreacted to his initial post. I'll admit that.

Also, our (you and I) interactions are tainted by previous discussions. Your question here wasn't particularly out of line.

You're too kind my friend...

Like most on this site, I'm just trying to stay grounded in this information overload world of ours. The daily dose of influencing, marketing, and thought control can be overwhelming.

There should be no laws against discrimination by private entities.

Only government entities should be restricted from discrimination for any reason.
