I'm glad to see that the A&M President has the proper perspective

Dallas Morning News Article

quote:

"Anyone who knows the true history of Lawrence Sullivan Ross would never ask his statue to be removed," Chancellor John Sharp said in a statement. "It will not be removed."

quote:

In a statement, Texas A&M President Michael K. Young defended Ross as a defender of the university. "Without Sul Ross, neither Texas A&M University nor Prairie View A&M University would likely exist today. He saved our school and Prairie View through his consistent advocacy in the face of those who persistently wanted to close us down," he said. "The Sul Ross statue will remain."

Any Social Justice Warrior or apologist who wants to argue otherwise can frick himself.

That statue is going down, bro

I love how everyone, even the lefties on this board, thinks that their particular white guy statue is safe from the ISIS statue demolition horde.

Not happening. Without Sul Ross, there's no Prairie View A&M.

It's not like a random statue of a Confederate leader that has no history whatsoever with the school. Taking down the status of Sullivan Ross is akin to taking down the statue of Earl Rudder.

Sorry. It has to go.

Personally I can't wait for Sam Houston to be torn down after all the UT folks that posted on this board mocked NOLA residents over the other statues.

We tried to warn everyone....

Did Sul Ross begin the practice of homosexuality at aTm?

He should be safe then.

It doesn't matter, man. I feel you, but it's an inevitability. If the school doesn't take it down, it'll be destroyed by these SJW locusts.

Just because your state doesn't have its shite together doesn't mean Texas has to follow suit.

What do you not understand about this? It has nothing to do with the school. Anyone associated with the confederacy is targeted for destruction and/or removal. Might as well get used to it.

The difference is that the Campus Police will be directed to patrol that area very soon to prevent that very thing from happening.

It's not like in Austin where the campus is somewhat integrated with the city. The A&M campus is relatively self-contained and "Sully" is almost in the geographic center of campus.

In Austin, the statues were taken down in the middle of the night without the consent of the board of regents or the state government.

Any group of people attempting to bring the required equipment to Sully (you would have to cause significant damage to campus in order to bring a vehicle near enough to the statue to do something like that) to make that happen would be noticed immediately.

Keep thinking what you want, but it's gonna happen. It sucks but it's true.

I think it's been tried before, which is why there are barriers at the closest entry point from the road specifically designed to prevent vehicular entry.

The nearest possible vehicle ingress point is about 500 yards away.

Not only that, but I DARE someone to try it on September 12th, which is when the first Silver Taps of the year occurs.

Silver Taps happens right in front of the statue.

You've now got both the University President and the System Chancellor on record saying that it's NOT being removed. Anyone trying to remove it on their own is now prosecutable.

Look dude, I get it. You don't want to believe that aTm or militant activists would dare tamper with one of your precious traditions that your cult holds sacred, but it's really blinding you to a very real inevitability. My best advice is to enjoy it while you can.

All statues must go now bro. No Justice, no peace! Stop flaunting your white prviledge. The slippery slope is slippery indeed!

TX has already started the process dude. UT Austin took some down last night.

Leftists are taking over your state's capital. It is only a matter of time. You'll see.

Enjoy the video above this thread of the Progs destroying the Christopher Columbus monument?

Yeah. This never ends.

Leftists have been in charge in Austin for a LONG time. Of course, leftist's have not taken over the state legislature or the Governor's office. In fact, the opposite has happened.

I didn't say I will, I said I would .

I agree with the tone of your argument.
But Sully is who Texas A&M is.
To remove that statue would be disavowing our university.
Protesters out-of-the-blue demanding its removal would be opposed by the Board of a Regents and the President--both having already gone on record as saying the statue stays.

unless invited by an on-campus organization would be barred from protesting on campus. This precedent has already been set with Richard Spencer.
