Could it have been reflection? Again not a scientist but maybe you've heard of this phenomenon. When light hits glass it may bounce back....
Could the "earth shine" have originated from inside the space craft?
Alternatively weren't there a number of lights on the exterior of the space craft? Could any of that light reflected through the window to "earth shine"?
Just some questions from a dude that don't know shite...

It takes less than 3 seconds to send a signal from the moon to earth. They move at the speed of light.
It doesn't get much more live than that.
