Rural Electrification, flood control, space exploration, roads, schools, police departments, justice system, national defense, fire departments, water treatment plants, airports, nfl stadiums......just the things that make civilization possible. Without collectivism mankind could not exist in our current manifestation. Man had lived on this planet for what, a million years, without escaping the ties to earth...and in 70 some odd years of collective effort is now living in space. Capitalism would have never accomplished that on its own.....any more than it did discovering the new world. Extremism in politics and economic systems don’t work. Unfettered capitalism is as bad an idea as soviet style communism.....but sensible regulation combined with relative freedom of commerce and collective spending has created the best societies man has ever lived in. Man is a social animal....we need one another even if we drive one another nuts. The worst part of prison ain’t violence it’s being kept away from other people even if they are crazy killers and child molestors.

Socialism is in our DNA. Unfettered capitalism and soviet style communism only works for the most willing to exploit our fellow man....for about 99.9% of us both means being a victim of the most ruthless among us....so we join together in alliances for protection and we thrive. The sands are ever shifting....it takes vigilance and hard work to maintain some equilibrium.....but elements of socialism are the choice of the vast majority of humans since the dawn of time.

I didn’t read the entire post. Where is there a socialist economy with a democratically elected government where there is no private property? I would bet that North Koreans own shite. At a basic level man owns his self.....he can take his own life even if he’s in chains.

Why not provide some examples of a socialist nation where there is NO private property or an unfettered capitalist economy in a nation. I seriously do not think either exists....but I know where the best places to live are on earth....places with elements of both ends of the economic spectrum balancing one another out.

OP needs to clarify that we are talking about socialism in practice, not in theory.
