2017 tax as a % AGI 13.7%
2018 tax as a % AGI 15%

AGI increased 15k

So not sure if it is mostly bracket related or losing SALT

At most $1,700 so I am okay. Figure after complaining I would give final numbers

Tell Jersey to lower your taxes by $1800 and you'll be better of by $100.
Not Trump's fault or lower tax states fault Jersey taxes you too much.

Serious question...why should anybody be able to write off state and local taxes on federal tax returns?

Why should NJ only get 30 cents back on every fed dollar in taxes?

They shouldn’t and that is why Trump brought an end to one of the liberal’s biggest shakedowns.

If you subject yourself to high state and local taxes, why should taxpayers from other states absorb your lack of fed taxes paid? Does NJ not receive fed grants for roads, highways, and bridges? Does NJ receive fed money for infrastructure upkeep or other fed funded projects in the state?

If they foot the bill for everything, then they should be able to deduct SALT. If the fed kicks in for the aforementioned things, then the citizens of that state have voted themselves taxes that they alone are responsible for.

30% of paid in vs 90-110% for South East states

So you are saying that NJ foots the bill on 70% of things that other states only foot 10% on similar stuff?
