Extended mail-in balloting takes another kick in the arse

Yep, Michigan high court says ballots have to be postmarked and received no later than Nov.2. Lower court judge had ruled that ballots would be counted as long as they were postmarked by Nov.2 and received within a fourteen day period after the election. Mark one up for the good guys.
Judge Cynthia should be reprimanded by the Michigan law board for not following the constitution of Michigan. This is just another reason why I say we need to have a national election law for the only national election of a politician, a president, and not leave ambiguity up to each state in our only national election.

The Michigan Court of Appeals on Friday blocked a 14-day extension to accept and count absentee ballots that some other states, including nearby Minnesota, are allowing.
Unless the 2020 presidential election is a landslide for either President Trump or Democratic nominee Joe Biden, results will likely not be clear until days -- or even weeks -- after Nov. 3.
"Although ... factors may complicate plaintiffs’ voting process, they do not automatically amount to a loss of the right to vote absentee," the court said in its decision. Hundreds of special absentee-ballot voting boxes have been set up across the state.
Initially, Court of Claims Judge Cynthia Stephens had ruled that ballots postmarked by Nov. 2 can still be counted if they are received two weeks after Nov. 3, citing "unrefuted evidence" about mail delivery problems because of the coronavirus pandemic. She said more than 6,400 ballots arrived too late to be counted in the August primary.

Not to be hysterical but this might have decided the election

Presently it is still being allowed in Minnesota.

Fwiw Nate Silver, I know I know, said the returned mail in ballots at this point have been overwhelmingly D ballots. He thinks the in person and late arriving ballots will lean R.
