Paul Erickson is a long time GOP operative and has been around Washington for decades. He worked in Buchanan's campaign as well as both of Romney's campaigns (among many other state elections). However, Erickson was NOT part of Trump's campaign.

Another guy in this saga is Rick Clay. He is a Christian conservative lobbyist who came across Butina and somewhat befriended her (can't blame him).

And the third guy in the story is Rick Dearborn, who was a Trump campaign aide. Dearborn is the guy both Clay and Erickson tried to contact to setup Russian meetings.

Turns out both Erickson and Clay sent e-mails to Dearborn at about the same time trying to setup meetings between Trump's people and Russia. Clay sent an e-mail titled “Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite." (lol) One of Erickson's e-mails was entitled "The Kremlin Connection." In the e-mail he said that Russia was “quietly but actively seeking a dialogue with the U.S.”

However, Kushner saw the e-mails and shut it down. He told them he was NOT interested.

Clay and Erickson both spoke to the DailyCaller and said they don't know each other. (Weird, huh?)

I suspect Erickson (and maybe Clay) was yet another FBI "spy." Erickson is mentioned in the Butina indictment as "Person 1" which is why I am more suspicious of him than Clay.

DailyCaller did a story on this, but didn't conclude either were spies (that's my theory). I suggest you read the story that covers what transpired between these guys and Trump's campaign.
