Exactly. It’s not your problem that a rape victim might in the near future have to go accross the country to get an abortion, so you don’t care. That’s really the crux of it tbh. I don’t agree with abortion for the sake of convenience anymore than you do. Rape is different though. I get it could be used as a loophole, but the overall number of abortions would still go down drastically and that’s a start

They should start naming every pro-life event & activity after him. I wouldn't return a single dollar that he donated either. The events could be something along the lines of...
"The Hugh Culverhouse Pro-Life Rally"
"The Trump For POTUS Rally-Sponsored By The Hugh Culverhouse Family"
Maybe install billboards & signs around campus with his & his parents pictures that say "the Hugh Culverhouse family reminds you sluts that if you don't want to be a parent you better learn to swallow or learn to love anal"

The only exception in Alabama’s law is if the Mothers life is in jeopardy. If you allow a rape clause you are essentially opening up Pandora’s box.
But I’ll play your game. Where would you draw the line on a time frame on having an abortion if a woman claimed she was raped? What do you think would happen to the number of women claiming that they were raped in order to have an abortion?
Now rape is a serious issue that needs to be addressed but not at the expense of an innocent child. Do you know what the percentage is of women who state rape as the reason for having an abortion? Any guesses? Rape accounts for less than one tenth of one percent. This is the false flag that people go around touting like it’s a major reason why women are having abortions, when in reality it’s simply not.
Again I’m not saying that rape isn’t an important issue because I believe that it is very important but that still doesn’t justify murder in my opinion.

Like I said, I don’t disagree with that position. I understand rape is a small part of it. I guess the easiest way to cut down on fake rape claims would maybe be to structure the law so a woman could only claim rape if her case for rape was documented by the police within a certain time period of the rape occuring? There are probably loopholes with that but I’m not by any means saying I have the answers to these questions. I’m just saying our elected officials with their collective minds should be able to come up with something better than, “not our problem, go to a different state”

Nothing beats the moral outrage of an abortion proponent.
Posted on 5/31/19 at 12:01 am to DumbCollegeKid
I mean maybe if you would read you would understand I’m not an abortion proponent
Posted on 5/31/19 at 12:07 am to Terrific Tales
No, I read. You’re running to statistically insignificant events to Pooh Pooh a law you don’t like.
Posted on 5/31/19 at 12:16 am to DumbCollegeKid
Nope. You didn’t read. I said I agreed with the law but thought it should have a rape clause. And I’m definitely not an abortion proponent unless it’s the case of rape or the mother’s life is at risk, which as others have mentioned, are rare occurances, but they occur nonetheless
Posted on 5/31/19 at 12:20 am to Terrific Tales
The mother’s life at risk has always been, so I don’t know why you brought that up. As for rape, why bring it up? Didn’t someone quote you a study in another thread showing that north of 70 percent of rape victims keep the baby? How far into a fraction of a fraction are you willing to go?
Posted on 5/31/19 at 12:26 am to DumbCollegeKid
I was bringing it up because you questioned my overall position on abortion so I gave it. Doesn’t matter that 70% of rape victims keep the baby. The ones that don’t want to have the baby deserve that right because it wasn’t their fault the baby was conceived. I have no issues with admitting that it’s a small percentage. But a small percentage of a lot of abortions is stilll a large amount of people when it isn’t compared to the whole, and I believe that it deserves a clause. You accused me of being an abortion proponent. I’m not

Roe vs Wade was based upon a false rape allegation. In most instances of rape, the mother can take a plan B pill that stops conception. There’d be no need to carry to term. Also, the argument of “rape” to allow abortion is like gun control advocates using school shootings to try to ban weapons. It accounts for a small percentage of gun deaths but it elicits much more of an emotional response. If you’re for abortion, just state that. You aren’t going to change anyone’s mind and you aren’t going to be morally superior either.
Posted on 5/31/19 at 12:32 am to DumbCollegeKid
I mean we just will never agree on this. One of the arguments against abortion that I agree with is it is a bail out on responsibility for the parents of the unborn child. I don’t believe that an unborn child that was conceived through rape should be the mother’s responsibility. That’s my opinion. You have yours. I just objected to you calling me an abortion proponent

Except, once again, someone has failed at reading my posts. Nowhere in this thread have I said that the abortion law should be repealed entirely because it doesn’t account for rape victims (which would be the direct circumstance of your analogy between school shootings and gun control). All I said was that something should be added to exclude rape victims. I’m not for abortion but you are too dense to understand that.

That's all it takes to get a law school named after you in Alabama?
26 mil?
How many students they have? 10?
That would buy you a nice park bench named after you at UCLA, Bolt Hall and Stanford.

That’s fair. I do still think you’re an abortion proponent because your position gives cover to those who would justify abortion on demand. We have compromised for decades, and we have the little bodies to prove it. We can make concessions from a point of strength, and I believe your stance undermines pro life efforts.
