Exactly what I'm talking about. There will be a lawsuit or two or three behind the loosening up of those HIPPA rights. The fact that a third party would know that you tested positive for Covid 19 is absolutely a violation.

It's HIPAA not HIPPA. Just as you sign a release at your doctor's request to share info with say another doctor or a referring doctor, you would voluntarily allow such given an instance where you participate again, voluntarily with contact tracing.

Ok. HIPAA.

Is not the same as a state worker wanting to ask you questions.

That release you sign says my info can be shared on a chart with another doctor. And I have to sign a specific form for that. I've had to do that a few times myself this past year with other minor shite and my doctor.

So define for us who the "covered entity" in the situation that you describe and tell us how it would violate The Notice of Privacy Practices that is written for contact tracing.

Disclaimer - I believe this thing is way too far gone to implement contact tracing.

Because if I go to get a test for Covid 19 and it comes back positive, that information is between me and the doctor only. I get that if I get a positive test, it's the decent and responsible thing for me to let those around me know, and to properly quarantine myself from spreading. But the very principle of it is, that's my business and my business only. It's up to my discretion who I want to know about my medical condition. It's nobody else's business, and it's my right to keep it that way.

When you call in sick to work, you have the right to not tell your coworkers exactly what's going on. And they don't have the right to know what's going on. Same thing here. It's nobody else's business that you tested positive. And certainly, it's not some state worker's right to know, much less get your phone number from a list and start interrogating you and everybody you've come in contact with. We had a positive case at work and all asked who it was, and was told that because of HIPAA they cannot disclose that information. So why is this completely different now with this?

It's very simple to understand, I'm not sure where you are getting tripped up on the point I'm making.

Well that's good to know. Same here, obviously.

I would bet the companies supplying the 700 contact tracers for Louisiana has some ties to JBE.
