This is not an accurate portrayal of the asylum system.

The statute talks about an alien being able to request asylum. It gives criteria and virtually no one crossing the border meets this criteria, by the way. It's just a game. That said...

There is broad discretion to deny, immediately, an asylum claim, or the ability to engage in the asylum process. And the statute says that the actions of the Attorney General regarding these decisions, are not judicially reviewable, and threshold for avoiding reviewability is easily reached.

The law allows for the border to be closed and asylum to be completely dismissed, but this government is deliberately opening the border and allowing asylum to be weaponized to game the system and destroy the nation. This is called treason. It's also subversion.
