Can individual states have a civil war without the rest of the nation getting involved?

It's not even really individual states that are in need of a reckoning. It's the isolated liberal strongholds within those states. They're almost all entirely surrounded by red country.
Wouldn't be hard to wage a war of attrition just by shutting down supply lines and playing the waiting game. The stocks they have amassed won't last millions of people very long at all.

It will never happen . People in rural counties with large farms should try co ops with the farmers to keep the food there . When food is hard to get in the city, the riots of the past will seem like a walk in the park .
