California court: Prison pot is OK, if inmates don't inhale

A California appeals court says it's legal to have small amounts of marijuana in prison - so long as inmates don't inhale.
The 3rd District Court of Appeal ruled that California voters legalized recreational possession of less than an ounce (28 grams) of cannabis in 2016, with no exception even for those behind bars.
But the court says state law does prohibit smoking weed in prison. Prison officials can also still punish pot possession as a rules violation.
"According to the plain language of ... Proposition 64, possession of less than an ounce of cannabis in prison is no longer a felony," the court ruled Tuesday. "Smoking or ingesting cannabis in prison remains a felony."
The court overturned the Sacramento County convictions of five inmates who had been found with marijuana in their prison cells.

Yeah, Bill Clinton didn't inhale either

I'd bet most of the corrections officers would rather the inmates be stoned than sober.

I'm smoking right now, and not inhaling ;)

Great idea actually. Crazy that pot will get you thrown into jail in some states and will likely be allowed in prison in another.

Let them get stoned and watch TV sounds like a easy prison to guard

This is a strange ruling to me. Wouldn't you have to believe the pot was purchased legally for an inmate to legally possess it?

I think prisoners would be better if they were high

This changes the game for me. If I can keep up to a zip on me in prison..and I get 3 hots and a cot?! Sheeeiiiiitt

What if we sent all the drugs the cops and dea find to the prisons. Let the inmates OD or smoke weed all day

Marijuana is growing like kudzu across the nation. An idea who's time has come.

It's a tax move.
Hook all the inmates in prison. Create the want and when they get out they will continue to purchase.
Cali needs to move that shite and generate some revenue

Thats because they've taught the dummies the famous phrase.
Legalize and tax
How about just legalize?
