Cal-Berkeley has 1522 professors, and like usual we find one or two professors who make these types of arguments. In this case, 0.13% of the entire faculty in one of the most left leaning places in the country presenting this view.
But it seems like every time this a professor presents these types of stupid viewpoints, it's picked up immediately, and largely spread by the right wing websites and right wing commentators because it's evidence that the this is some widely held view by the other >99%.
Yet, they never seem to consider that they are reinforcing these irrational individuals and their attention seeking behavior and by focusing on every incident and extrapolating it, they are creating the pervasiveness in their own subjective reality instead of in the objective reality.
The spin is strong in this true believer.

Peacefully protesting is fine. But we're not talking about that, are we?
Well if antifa shows up and starts destroying things, no that is not fine. Shouldn't we wait until something actually happens before we start claiming it's a violent protest?

Of course, one would think that with 1520 other full time faculty, there would be hundreds of faculty members making the same arguments to show how pervasive these views are within the faculty
Why isn't there a story about the hundreds of faculty members that support free speech and the right of the speakers?
Because:
1) there aren't hundreds and they are in line with the ones in the article
OR
2) There are, but they are in the minority and fear for their jobs or safety against the administration and/or students
