Bad shite can happen anywhere, witness the Lafayette cinema shooting just a few years back, nowhere is immune to disasters; but I just can't take the possibility of a racial meltdown in Lafayette seriously. I don't think it would have degenerated this far except the new mayor Josh Guillory recently closed all the recreation centers and parks on the North-side of town, with a large black population, while leaving the South-side, mostly white park's open.
