This happens literally every year for like the last decade. Both parties routinely like to passively legislate via the budget. Neither side seems to take any issue unless its the other side that does it. Shameful state of American politics. But this shite isnt new. Its standard practice now.

yeah i don't get how the DEMs can try to spin this one in the way they are, or the GOP try to act like they're shocked at the DEMs

Once one accepts hyper-partisanship and obstruction as the norm... It becomes the norm. Conservatives seemed to enjoy this sort of thing in the Obama years and Dems condemned it. Now roles are reversed and naturally opinions are reversed.

i dunno if it's a full reversal

i mean hell the main argument is just for CHIP

conservatives get to "enjoy it more" b/c they rally against big government...publicly at least

if the media was slanted in the opposite direction, the DEMs would be slaughtered for refusing to allow CHIP to continue. that's exactly the type of program that they build their entire platform with

Meh. Conservatives blamed dems for government shutdown every time its happened. Its pure partisanship on both sides.

oh there is a lot of hypocrisy, but the coverage is even moe

the GOP gets blamed by the major media regardless, even though this time it's 100% on the DEMs

the DEMs aren't even negotiating anymore

Remains to be seen. Cant pass it without dems so the onus is on both sides to compromise.

the DEMs are not offering any compromise. literally none

they want everything or a shut down

now you can argue the GOP did this in the past and i won't disagree, but they were railed for it. remember the "party of no"? or "obstructionism"?

McCain AZ

I think he should not vote for the next 15 years. If dead people can vote then Senate turncoats should be able to be there posthumously to.

Obstructionism was praised by this board during Obama. And DACA isnt everything the dems want. You know this.

they will not negotiate at this at all and is why there is a shutdown

and the Trumpkins are primarily asking the DEMs to own this

I am not excusing it. But the fact is the conservatives really created this playbook. Its disingenuous to expect your opponents to play the game with more honor than you play with yourself

I’ll accept it. People talk about compromise like it’s a good thing, especially when they’re in the minority.

I voted on principle, so I’d prefer it if they fought tooth and nail to vote the way they told me they’d vote.

Now that we’re getting a taste of our own medicine, maybe it’s time to realize Reid was right about going nuclear. Both sides need to dump the supermajority or nothing will ever get done whether you like the bill or not.
