Are both parties in individual states of 1984?

In 1984 the party is all that matters. It irons out every wrinkle of uniqueness eventually and inevitably and without prejudice.
Both parties are essentially entirely partisan. Every important committee vote seems to be down party lines. Every important confirmation or vote seems to be right down party lines.
Is it just me misperceiving reality? At this point it seems like we just vote for democrat votes or republicans votes. Not Ted Cruz’s vote. Or Dick Durbin's vote. You’re basically just agreeing generally to a platform that overall works for you and then voting in warm bodies to cast votes for that platform.
Am I off base here or do others feel this way?

I perceive society’s situation to be much closer to Brave New World, FWIW.
