But the criticism is utterly unfounded, unless and until some actual evidence of such comes out, right? Or is this just more of the same leftist rejection of reality, in favor of their own substitute?

Where in the video does it clearly show that they were planning a violent confrontation? Maybe they were planning and expecting to be violently confronted, but that's very different from planning a violent attack, which you seem to be implying. If they were planning a violent attack, they did a pretty piss poor job of it by walking up to them, making fun of them, then getting pepper sprayed, spit on, and objects (including bottles) thrown at them.
