You can almost see the (P) on the bird.

Almost...

January the 6th, 1986 was my last day in the Navy.

My favorite Christmas Song in December 85 was "All I want for Christmas is my 214"

Never even came close. My last boss (MG) sat the GOPVB. He could have advocated for me. But the reality is he did not like me (and I gave him plenty of reasons not to). It was better for everyone that I was not chosen to be a GO.

In my mind you were close. On the other hand, I kind of feel kinship in your not making BG.

I've recounted some of my experience here - a range of mediocre/poor bosses sprinkled with the odd guy or gal who seemed to have things put together.

That last one, though, really took the cake. I was a senior captain when he was commissioned and THIS is who they stuck me with at the end. I was already on the glide path to retirement when he came in, but I would occasionally catch myself giving a $hit for my guys and the mission.

Anyway, I can always say, "I took no positive/affirmative action in order to attempt to get promoted to O-6, other than apply for War College." I never applied for any battalion commands and I didn't even certify my board file was complete. So, in way, I rejected them before they could reject me.

Good times...

In many ways your story does mirror mine.

You would have been similar to Scott McKean as a GO.

I wonder if Pukelosi is willing to testify under oath in the part she played in declining Trump's offer for additional National Guard troops on 01/06/21?

She "recused" herself from testifying way back when...possibly on the 5th of Jan.
