Cotile Lake.
took 2 year old out, on water at 745---off at 910...he wore his Daddy OUT!!
20 keepers, all good size with a few Shellcrackers mixed in.
Little man was soaked with sweat in his lifejacket, but reeled in about 6 of them, including the biggest. He has watched too many fishing shows, thinks you got to grab em all by the mouth.

That sucks it looks like a nice spot to fish.
I worked on the garage addition all weekend so I didn't get much of a chance to wet a line. Fished for a few hours off my girlfriends dock Sunday to get my fix, caught some small bream on nightcrawlers.

Sorry for the delay, but fishing on Sunday makes for a long Monday. Fished out of Fourchon in my little 20' Hydrasport-fished the ST blocks from 100-130' of water. Caught the rare and endangered red snapper at every stop but one (one rig had ZERO life around it), culled down to our 8 snapper-nothing giant, but all were 6-12 pounds. Literally caught them 2-3 at a time all day, and that was me deckhanding and barely fishing. We added 10 mangroves-could have had more, as they were teaming around one rig, but didn't have the chum and cut bait ready. And as I mentioned in another post, we were hurt by having crappy arse pogies-there was no cutting them up, they were falling apart, like they had been thawed and refrozen several times. Yuck.
Had two drive-bys from nice lemonfish, but again, my pitch rod only had a jig with curlytail grub, which is usually a killer, but the one that circled it several time opted out. In any case, a fun day with my son and his friend any my longtime buddy, and plenty fillets. I am going to have to study up on grouper-son's buddy hauled up three, but I can't tell a black from a gag (no OT replies please), so we threw them all back. And all were legal length.

Grand Isle overnighter on Friday. Limit of snapper in the South Tim 300's, no big ones. Lots of AJ's released in the process. One wahoo at Tarantula with one knock down lost. To Prince for tuna, jigged the black fin for chum with moderate success. First two drifts with a yellowfin on each, then the sharks moved in and the bite was done.
Slow trolled in the middle of the night to Lobster. Jigged some more blackfin (20 lbers). Early morning troll (and this is when it got good). Early small blue marlin released. Second pull, double hook up on marlin...lost the big one (spooled)...we were not prepared for that. One big dolphin.
On the way in, stopped at reef in South Tim, 3 nice lemon fish.

Do the snapper bite at night
Posted on 6/14/11 at 7:40 am to NattyLite
I never tried but I'd immagine they do

I was thinking mabe going at night because we have a 24' boat but the bottom dosent have much of a v to it, dosent take the waves to well. And if its fairly calm it has a 300 and should make for a quick trip. Do they normally hit better with the tidal movement kinda like inshore.

Fished the shallow South Tim rigs Saturday for a few hours, and the current was ripping. The wind picked up, and i had my grandpa in the boat so we called it a day. Ended up with 12 mangroves. Caught 15 nice specks sunday afternoon on live shrimp under a cork in barataria bay.

We caught the snapper on the way out. Snapper do bite at night, but we were in over 1000 feet of water and targeting other species with speed jigs and diamond jigs. With all the snapper that are out there now, there is no advantage that I can see to trying to fish for snaps at night.

The advantage i want to gain fishing at night is the lack of wind. I could care less how many ppl are out fishing

Fished Swollfest this weekend and we caught limit of snapper, 8 yellowfin, 2 wahoo, 3 big dorado, 1 cobia, and lots of black fin.
