Wait till the redsnapper season opens. Those trips can save you some coin and the runs offshore are short. They will catch fish till they are beat!
At 10 years old, I always took my kids out and they enjoyed thereselfs, but you really have to pick the right days which you have a better chance in the summer months. Do pick a boat that has a lot of cover for shade. They will need it! Talk the the charter boat captain on your plans before hand is a must. Most will work with you with the kids.
