i consider it to be a "generation" number with 1 being the oldest. i'm not in the military so i really don't know. it's basically a configuration of different parts.
M4A1 Block 1
M4A1 Block 2
the MK18 had similar changes...

I hope that pic is just a mock-up because an M4 "clone" that still has a 16.1" barrel is dumb.
And the M4A1 has the SOCOM profile barrel and ambi selector.

The M4A1 Block I also known as the M4A1 SOPMOD was a sister to the US Military’s M4 Carbine. The SOPMOD designation stands for Special Operations Peculiar Modifications and is an accessories system designed in the early 1990’s to customize the base M4 Carbine in-the-field with low-cost off-the-shelf components. This would allow for each set up to be mission specific and allow for proper set mounting of optics, IR/VIS lights, verticals grips, etc.

PSA is dedicated to every freedom loving man in this country being able to own a rifle ... in a nation of rifleman.
It's up to the buyer/owner to aquire the training and the ammo and the wearwithall to learn how to use it properly.
They've got a M110 SASS clone out as well. JAKL

someone traded in a JAKL at the local gun store up here. it was a pistol (no stock) with an additional upper. the store was selling both as a package for $1200.
pistol w/ upper + additional upper = $1200
i debated on getting it, but didn't.

Their rep on AR15.com still hasn't posted anything about the M4 clone they showed on IG. That's strange.

maybe they just did it for fun and have no intentions on releasing an official model.
eta: they do have "M4A1" lowers so someone could techincally buy the parts to build their own clone.

how do you guys treat "clones". no matter what you do, you'll never get it to 100% since the extra pin hole won't exist, but do you actually go through the effort of finding a Colt roll marked M4A1 lower receiver/upper receiver? or do you go the budget route with a budget brand lower receiver that's engraved with M4A1?

So can this M4A1 lower receiver be configured to fire full auto? The selector shows a safe, semi and "auto" mode.

it's missing the third pin hole above the "SEMI" area. it holds the auto sear seen here (red item):

Gotcha. So basically with an auto sear your in bidness.

yeah if you can find one. plus, you'll need to know exactly where to drill out the hole. but that information can be found with a quick google search.

I would just get the cheapest PSA complete lower. The markings don't bother me as long as it looks the same.
Brownells and Primary Arms both make KAC RAS clones for under $150 now so that helps with the handguard.
The barrel should be chrome lined because a nitride barrel sticks out like a sore thumb on a clone. Preferably a 14.5" barrel with a pinned A2X or a 14.7" barrel with a pinned A2.
An M4A1 would have an ambi selector and a SOCOM profile barrel (that's thicker under the handguards).

i'm thinking of a Block II build so i'll end up with the DD RIS II rail. probably use my latest Aero build as a platform. only decision to make is whether or not to use an A2 fsb or not.

Whichever one is cheaper.

As a silly-assed concept.
