What’s everyone’s go to call while we are waiting?

Wingbone from my first Tom. It’s sentimental and does very well tuned clucks, yelps, and cuts

The Hootstick skyrocketed up my list. When I practice in the car (you’ll learn the women dont like you practicing in the house) it sounds AMAZING in the woods. It’s by far my favorite locator IF I have to use one.

Woodhaven Black Reactor for a mouth call
Cuts, keekee, raspy yelps

My opinion is if more guys “deer hunted” them and just sat in a good travel route it would be easier than calling them. Don’t get me wrong, I love calling turkeys. I love hunting new ground I don’t know and working birds. But guys kill them on private ground by generally deer hunting them because they know where they are and go so well.
Yep

I simply setup every year in an on the ground pop up blind where I see them traveling during deer season

It usually takes one or two sits only to kill one every spring…

Turkey hunting is very hard if you are hunting ground you don’t know and on the move

If you are willing to just sit in a blind where you know they travel it isn’t hard. But it also isn’t that “fun” this way

This is the way my Grandad probably killed 200 turkeys.

There were permanent turkey blind spots and trees. One tree was where he did his most damage over the years.
