A friend of mine who primarily hunts in the swamp has a Pulsar Telos X50 monocular. He said he bumps way less deer/hogs walking into stay easing around. From what little I used it, it seems really awesome other than the price ($3,500). Someone else recommended DNT Hound 635 as a cheaper alternative for scanning thickets/cutovers etc.

Obviously, you get what you pay for but for what it is, will there be that much drop off with a cheaper alternative?

There will be a noticeable decline in quality. However you don’t need telos quality just to see heat when walking to your stand.
Pulsar also has the axion monoculars. Smaller and cheaper than the telos. The XQ30 or XG35 will be all you need.

There are plenty other cheaper thermal options out there but not all thermals of the same price are equal. Plenty of Chinese sensors and cheap parts in these no name / new companies out there.

thank you. Exactly the kind info I was looking for.

I figured the Telos may be overkill for what I do.
