After the freeze last year where is the best place in TX to catch big trout?

Pre freeze I fished upper laguna and had some amazing days with multiple trout over 23’ and a pb of 26. I have fished 6 times in ULM post freeze and have caught mostly reds. From what I have seen lower Laguna and Baffin where hit just as hard.

All of the usual places are still the best to go to, but east Matagorda took a massive hit also. It was quickly becoming a major big trout fishery. Basically, they all took major hits and had a ton of monster trout killed, but all of them still have some fish. Mansfield, Baffin, Rockport, Matagorda, etc. Its just much harder to catch one after the freeze.

My buddy is a guide out of Lamar and they caught some nice ones of out that area. I would assume the normal big trout holes held big trout for a reason. They may not be as plentiful yet but they are still there.

I caught one 29” off the side the road last May

It will take a couple years but it will get back. Also I think the max life on a trout is 9-10 years. Hopefully we don’t get a big freeze like that anytime soon.
