Stepped on one in October on Longboat Key. Worst pain I've ever felt. I didn't know about the hot water and we went to the hospital. It took about 45 mins to get there and the pain never subsided at all and I felt like it got worse until the guy brought me a tube of hot water. The relief was almost immediate.

And dstone, do a little more research. It absolutely is a venom.
