If you've only got a few popping up, I'd hand wipe the petals with roundup. Put on a latex glove, then a cheap cotton glove on top of that. Dip in a 10% roundup solution and wipe on.

What's the best way to get rid of Ground Ivy... not sure if it is dollarweed or Creeping charlie or what... but I can take pic tonight if it makes a difference. Stuff is taking over a part of my back yard. Also has some wild strawberries mixed in for good measure. Or is it too late/hot to do anything with it?

Anything with 2-4d in it will kill it if it's dollar weed or any broadleaf weed. Only thing is with Temps in mid 90's u can damage your desirable grass.

Celsius is a great product for broadleaf and most grassy weeds. It can also be used in high temps

Yeah, that's what I was worried about... there's lots of good Zoysia there, don't want to hurt it. I'll check out the celsius. Thanks.

OK... checked out the celsius... $150 for a 10 oz bottle? That the right stuff? For that price, I'll make my son get out there and pull they stuff up. Or call the Scott's yard people and let them deal with it. That way, if anything gets killed that shouldn't, my wife can't blame me.

I know it's expensive but 1 bottle will last you probably 6 years.

It's a good herbicide that covers very wide range of weeds and can be sprayed at high temps.

shite...

How can science clone a sheep, but not develop a weed that LOOKS like grass.

My grass is dead with no rain, but the weeds are proud, green, and tall.

So I've the let the grass (read: weeds) grow up so I can get a good pic. So here's what I've got.

My questions are. What do I have? I know there is a shite ton of Bahia and I've got the MSM to treat that. What about the other shite that's going on? Would MSM also take care of that?

Also, when I mow, I've always heard never take more than a third off of the St. Aug that you have. Does that sound right?

The "one-third" rule applies to any grass. It's a general rule of thumb that'll keep someone from scalping their lawn. Use your MSM to knock back what you can. Don't expect quick results, as MSM works systemically. In a yard taken over by weeds like that, I'd start in November with a pre-emergent like Simazine, and then start a regimen at the beginning of the year tackling weeds as they emerge. When they are hardy and mature like they are now, you're fighting a tough battle.

The MSM worked awesome last year but I really dropped the ball this year on treatments etc and it's back and in full force.

Guess I'll see what the MSM can do and then just start planning for next year

Liquid or granular pre emergents?

Either gonna use Barricade or Dimension this fall and next spring.

What are your thoughts on this advice from La Nursery?

St. Augustine/Bermuda Lawns: Apply Lawn Food plus Iron by Fertilome for continued nutrition for these two heavy feeding turf grasses. Make sure it has been at least 60 days since your spring fertilization.

you have broadleaf weeds in your lawn, apply Lawn Weed Killer Granules by Bonide. Do NOT use a weed and feed or selective liquid herbicides in the summer or you will likely burn your grass.

I use liquid. Easier for me to use my 150 Gal boom rig and cover the 13 acres of Bermuda I've got.

I have Virginia Creeper growing all around my yard. I weeded the yard for a BBQ the other weekend and the VC grew back in numbers. I've read Roundup should work fine ... didn't know if the OB had any other remedies.

Got any advice on how to tackle this the correct way initially?

Roundup or a broadleaf killer. Catch it again late in the fall, and you'll have less to tackle again in the spring. I'm no expert in ornamentals, but I don't know of any pre-emergent labeled for V. creeper.

Roundup is all I've got, cut it down close to ground then just douse the cut end, but it just comes up somewhere else eventually.

Yea I'm a little nervous bc it's growing near a satsuma and kumquat tree, which I'm obviously not going to spray roundup on those

Roundup has no systemic action, so as long as you don't spray the foliage of the desirable plants, you're fine. Will not uptake through the bark/trunk.
