If you want to stay within the national park try Balsam Mountain campground. It has two advantages, it is off the beaten path and it is also the highest altitude campground in the park at around a mile high so it is fairly cool. No showers though and honestly not a lot to do.

Oops - just saw the beach change. St. George Island State Park would be my pick. We camped there this spring. Nice campground (with showers), beautiful island and beaches.

ETA - and we tore up some nice specs from kayaks on the bay side just off of the boy scout camp boat launch.
