Wife wants to put Indian Hawthorne, will that work or do you have anything similar to suggest? I've read it is best in full sun.

It is about an 18 foot strip in the bed.

Alternate it with some fountain grass.

Stay away from hawthorns. They are having major fungal issues. Go with a variety of gardenia, azalea etc and set your plant spacing based on mature size

You should consider Walter's Viburnum

LINK

It's a native shrub, which means less maintenance, better suitability, and better support of native wildlife.
