If you can replace the scope base I'd buy a Weaver one piece to go w/ the Burris Signature Z-Rings. There's really no need to lap the scope rings. A lapping kit costs more than a new Weaver base and Burris Signature rings; lapping rings will take also about 45-60 minutes. An advantage of a multi-slot base like the Weaver is that provides you multiple different options to fit your scope's eye relief to you; there's not as much flexibility to do that w/ a rings/base one piece set up.
