I have a direct tv dish installed at my camp about three years ago (would bring the receivers from my house to the camp). Since then I cut the cord a few months ago. I have someone who will give me a receiver and is letting me tap into his account. What do I need to do to use his receiver at my camp? Thanks

Have a satellite. Thats about it. Make sure the receiver has been used recently or you need to call them to activate the receiver

The dish at your camp has to be the exact same dish that the receiver owner was using to be plug and play.

If the dish at the camp is different you have to go into the satellite setup menu and change the dish type to whatever dish you have at the camp.

Post what dish you have at the camp and what model # receiver your going to use.

Tell them you are camping or tailgating. If not they will want to set up the location as a new account. We did this at our camp for a few yrs. Would turn on and off the box when we were there. Every person we called and talked to had a different opinion. Do not say its a permanent location. Its very cheap if you already have the access card, receiver and satellite.
