Remember that the Leupold's will be second focal plane so you will have to be at max magnification to use the reticle accurately. That limits your eye box and field of vision. I hunt a lot with SFP but do like my SHV F1 for holdovers at any mag.

I understand the FFP vs SFP differences. was thinking the MOA reticle would be used for ranging and I would dial up the elevation needed on longer shots. I do not plan to take shots on animals longer than 500 yards anyway. However, there's a turn row at my lease that offers a shot up to 8/10 of a mile, so I'm excited to put some gongs out there and see what I and this setup can really do.

I have a 5.5x22x56 NXS on my Remington 700P and love it. One tough arse scope since I deer hunt with it mostly. So its being bounced around on ATVs and banged against trees and stands. Not an issue it's as true today as it was when I sighted it in three years ago. It has the clearest glass I've ever used.I have no problem seeing 12" steel targets out to 1000 yds (the longest shot Ive taken). I got mine for around $1800 out of California, of all places.
