Reggio report

Got down to Reggio again today, since it looked like the last decent fishing weather for a while. Still no trout, caught 5 nice bass I kept, and 4 reds over 24" I released. Water is still high, but will probably fall good with the weather changing tomorrow.
For you kayakers, I saw the same gargantuan alligator that I saw a couple weeks back. If you leave the marina and head toward Reggio Canal, there's a large pond on your right past that 'A frame' unfinished camp with the Tyvek on it. Both times I've seen him, he was in that general vicinity. This thing is MAMMOTH, like literally 12' long. Literally the biggest gator I've ever seen, and I grew up fishing in South LA, 44 years old. So be careful...seriously. He could EASILY dump a kayak or canoe if he felt threatened. Hopefully the cooler weather will put him to sleep, but he was sunning on the edge of that pond today and I left it to him.
All reds caught on Redfish Magic, bass on either Redfish Magic, opening night on leadhead, or topwater. First bass was caught before I even paddled twice, right at the launch on the opening night.
No trout again.

Since you're good at rubbing my face in not being pic capable, what is "redfish magic"?

That spinner bait hanging out of that redfish mouth.
And talking about rubbing it in, I got deployed to Kalamazoo FRIGGIN MICHIGAN today...got the email while I was still fishing. So y'all have full reign of Reggio reds for a while...Fishhead will be ice fishing at best for the foreseeable future. :(
Glad I snuck this one last trip in.

Nice report. Thanks...
My boat has left the state for a week or so, so I'll be on the bench.
Good luck up North.

Cap't Charlie says this is the most fish he's seen in 10 years right now, fwiw.

Yeah, the trout are on fire in areas like Pointe Fienne, Four Horse Lake, the Biloxi Marsh, ect...
Just hard to get to those areas via canoe...
I usually catch em right there by the launch, but the water has been SO high lately, it's full of grass. Hard to fish. I caught quite a few trout the other day when I brought my son in the bay boat, but that was Biloxi Marsh. You gotta realize, I'm never outta sight of the marina when I'm in my canoe lol.
