Striker fired 10mm is hit and miss as to what ammo they'll take.

I have never liked a striker fired automatic for a sidearm. I think that's part of the reason I avoided Sig's for so long. I like to see the hammer and know whether it's in a half-cocked position, fully-cocked, or whether it's all the way down against the block. It's always a good reminder that there is probably a round in the chamber ready to be fired.

This one's a bit odd though. There's a de-cocking lever rather than a safety since it's DA/SA. It's taking me a while to get used to this feature, but overall I like it. I only wish there was an option for a double stack magazine rather than single stacked eights.

I'll make a note to my compadres that if I get eaten by a bear due to my stupidity, the Sig is to be sent to Juneau for you to add to your collection.

One of my buddies is on a caribou hunt right now on Adak Island. If you are ever looking into a unique hunting adventure, thats definitely it.

More bad advice from Roger.

Its an issue with 10mm. Many dont scale up the weapon to handle the higher recoil which leads to feeding issues. The S&W 2.0 is one glaring example.

Probably more of a price point issue than striker, but most of the ones with 10mm issues are polymer/striker.

The 10mm I'll be carrying is the Sig P220 Elite

I have one of these as well but mine is a SAO with safety. It shoots so good.

The only thing about it to me though is the recoil spring is incredibly heavy. Heavy enough that it is actually a little hard to chamber a round, and I'm not a small guy and do work out several times a week.

Also have a Colt Delta Elite. Not sure which of those I would say is my favorite. The Colt is definitely lighter but they both hold the same, I think.

You ain't kiddin' about that! It takes a real effort to chamber a round from the magazine for sure. I imagine it'd be even more difficult with wet hands. (Something to think about now that I realize I'll be fly fishing most of the time out there.)
