Rechargeable spotlight and charger amp question

Maybe this is wrong board, sorry if that is the case.
Cannot find my charger for my handheld spotlight.
Rechargeable handheld spotlight input reads "12V DC 500mA"
Charger output reads "12V 1.0 A"
The male and female ports fit. Will I do damage to either the charger or the spotlight if I use them together to charge the spotlight?
