Anybody know where I can get 5 or 6 crossties around BR? I'd prefer them to be old and worn. Better yet, 6x6 bean, cypress, oak, whatever... pieces about 4' long.

A buddy used to get the ones off the Huey P. Narrow, he must have been on a list or something. I'd google a RR site for a start. All I got, sorry. They'd rather give/sell than haul.

Local ace hardware carries them for about 10 bucks each.

Pecue lane has a stack I've been eyeballing. No way they would care about the used ones being put to good use.

Thanks for the info! I might try to locate an Ace Saturday, or I may ease by Pecue and see what they have laying around

don't kid yourself...railroads leave a lot of shite laying around after they do maintenance, but they have no intention of allowing you to take it and they get pissed when you do.

And if you get caught it is a Federal crime, not a state

railroad ties are soaked in creosote. the railroad companies hire a third party to remove the ties and dispose of them.

The third party makes money on both ends since they get paid to remove the ties and then they can sell them to be ground down and used as a fuel/energy source since they burn very well.
