I can't believe they gave a dog antivenon.
Lived by lakes for over 40 years and never even had a cat die from a snake bite...much less a dog.
Having outside cats keeps the snakes away from the house. They usually only get bit once before learning to be more careful. I've seen cats grab snakes by the head and then skin and gut them with their back claws. It's actually pretty impressive how quickly they can do it.
