Is the Ken Onion edition worth the extra $50 over the original work sharp? What are the advantages of one versus the other?

Belts are wider. I think it rotates also.
Not worth it in my opinion

Those things will make your knives sharp but they remove way too much material for long term use in my experience. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.

I own both versions and yes, the KO version is worth it if only for the accessory that uses the bigger 1x18 belts. Allows you to freehand sharpen and there are leather stropping belts available. Never had a problem with too much material being removed and can put a mirror polished razor edge on a blade quicker than anything.

In my experience, if this is happening, you're using too aggressive of a band. The super coarse band will EAT some metal if you're not careful.
