Post pics of your fireplace I’m looking for something to show my builder what I want.. and I really don’t have a clue what I want. I will be having two fireplaces, one indoor center of sidewall in living room and one at a 45 angle on the back porch in the corner.. I was thinking gas on both or mabe gas inside and wood outside

Had a gas fireplace in a house we rented before buying our current house.
Definitely missed the sound and the smell of a real fireplace burning wood.

I’ll bite.
It’s 30+ y/o. No gas.
And yes, I need to clean the ashes.

This is a link to photos of my outdoor fireplace. I have gas indoors. Wood burning is more authentic to me, but the gas is easy on and off. I would highly recommend including a gas fire starter if you go with wood burning. Makes lighting the wood incredibly quick and easy

Mind if I ask what that whole setup cost to build?

Mine is gas, with a slate tile surround and 2-distressed hickory stained 4 x 4 stacked on top of each other for the mantle
