This is what I do. Or you can just use a single stake of some kind. Either/or.

As others have mentioned, you can plant shallots (green onions) most any time. You can also plant fall peppers and tomatoes. You just have to baby them through the scorching hot summer. I've found that hot peppers (jalepenos, cayennes, tabascos, etc.) fare better than others. You can also plant cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and other such things in mid to late August/early September if you care for such things.

Basically. I will pick up some of the branches and lay them on a higher cross piece to space them out sometimes, but its basically just to give extra support so they dont fall over.

My plan is to plant shallots, bellpeppers, banana peppers, cajun bell peppers in mid july. In september I want to plant some white onions.
