Hahaha You noticed those tires huh? Yeah, they are a tad bit small. I went to Wal-Mart to replace the flat ones that were on there and these were the only size they had there with 4 lugs

I did the same thing with my aluminum boat one time. Two flat tires and I wanted to go fishing bad the next morning. So I bought those small tires with 4 lugs at Wal-Mart. I said when one goes flat I'll buy two bigger ones. Well, the small tires lasted 2 years. The benefit of having smaller tires is the boat is much easier to launch in shallow water. You don't have to back the trailer very far into the water for the boat to float.

I already come really close to ripping off my skeg by forgetting to trim the motor up before I pull the boat out. With those tires it would surely be gone

the smaller the dia of the tire makes the wheel bearings fail a lot sooner to..more heat from spinnin faster..

I have the smaller ones for launching shallow but dont need them now..theres to much wawa here

I did replace both of these but that was 4 years after I removed the small tires.

This is encouraging. It being so old I wouldn't have thought it would be worth trying to fix.

Ya'll don't think I should be looking more into trying to get a motor that wasn't made before I was born? This seems like a nice side project, but I'm worried about the reliability of a motor that old.

I would say that probably 75% of the small motors that people give up on can be fixed within a few hours. From weedeaters to lawnmowers to 4 wheelers, people just get rid of them. Hell, I have been given most of my lawn equipment and look for broken stuff a lot of the time because it is much cheaper. Fixing motors is something that every man should know how to do. Either that, or you will end up giving me a perfectly good motor for nothing.

As for the boat tires, I was still laughing about those this morning

As long as it has good compression. you can make it a good dependable motor. The older smaller 2strkes are very dependable

I can't sleep tonight, might as well suck it up and make him a list.

Say bro, thanks for that list. I used it and a friends input over the phone and got a generator that hadn't run in 6+ years running. It was under a rotted tarp in a yard since after Katrina and the tank had a good bit of water in it.
PS- I'm no mechanic either.
