I bet if you go back you will find some land was taken from the govt illegally.
I am not saying much as my grandmother had property in modern day Lake Henderson. The old wood pilings were part of old railroad bridge that went close to Breaux Bridge to bring people to and from town. The army Corp relocated the people who lived here after the big miss river flood to buy a levee in. They never bought some people out.
I bet if someone researched a famous restaurant and saw who was mayor for many years of a town called Henderson they would question if that business was put on Army Corp (public land). If you eat there you will notice a boat landing to the left of the eating area. No one will but I think it would be very interesting to see possibly that land might have been borrowed unknowingly from the army Corp for free and called theirs? No one would question the person who did this that was a mayor of the town for years.
Now I could pay back taxes on my ancestors property and block a few famous places in lake Henderson and ask for oil and gas revenue that the state collected over the years. Just not worth the legal fight would cost more than what I would get. I could also pay taxes on some Henderson lake bottom and block a good bit of it off also. Not financially worth it to me to own lake bottom that the gas and oil taken out of.
I bet if you go way back in history you will find more places that the land or marsh belonged to the state or feds now today it does not.

You cant do that.
Any waterway you can move a boat up should be public.
Even if dug to make water go to you.

I don’t give a frick what you do with the land, but if the water running thru it runs to a navigable waterway, I’m gonna fish it.
If you don’t want people in your water then build and land dam at the entrance. And then it’s locked off from the waterways.

I'm not responding to anyone directly. If it floats, it boats. If you say its private, then make it private. Do your part and I'll do mine.

A large percentage of the West part of Lake Henderson was actually a town. They still have the plots of who owned the land going back to the early 1900’s.
Legally if all these people who’s ancestors was kicked off the land wanted to claim it and pay the back taxes they could as the govt never paid some of these people’s family members.
Henderson is not a natural waterway it is flooded by the parish for recreational activities.
Back in the day the homes were off the ground and they had piers between the homes. When the natural springs floods came in the yards were flooded. After the spring floods fell the land was dry.
Legally yes if all these ancestors wanted to claim their ancestors land and pay back taxes they could post and block thier land as the govt never paid some of these people to move them.
